Every DoD contractor will need to be CMMC-certified, likely by the end of the year, provided the development of the legislation remains on track. This includes all organizations that handle controlled unclassified information (CUI) on behalf of the DoD. CMMC defines five levels of cybersecurity maturity, each one incrementally improving on the previous level with additional practices. These practices largely originate from the established security requirements of the DFARS SP 252.204-7012 standard.
